Kath Murdoch Day

An Inquiry classroom - An inquiring teacher.....

Kath has a way of drawing you into everything that she says. Somethings that she talked about we had heard or read about (like some of the thinking tools) but alot of other ideas were new and really switched the light on. The way she spoke about 'Switch Ons' and how we all thought about our values and how that was a perfect way to introduce and maintain back into our daily plans.

The main part that really stuck with me was the reflection. It is something that is a goal of mine to do better within my teaching. If we don't model good reflection to our children how do they know the best way to do it and why. In my class the children have their individual blogs and as a team we are creating a reflection template that they can use each week to reflect on their learning in class. There are some really great class blogs out their to see how they do it. By the end of next week these will be up and running so check them out Room 7 Blogs.

To finish off this was taken from our notes on the day... "Inquiry as a way of being not a way of teaching."
